Goal Setting and Timeline Management
The application process for today’s students is a far cry from the days of using a typewriter to fill out two or three applications. Instead, students apply to many more schools and must navigate multiple application platforms and deadlines. Additionally, the popularity of early action deadlines has turned the fall of students’ senior years into a whirlwind of admissions tasks they need to quickly complete while trying to keep up with their studies and extracurricular activities. I work with students to create individual timelines for application completion, taking into consideration their schedules and goals.
Fit-Focused College List Generation and Development
Choosing a college should never be about following the crowd. There are fantastic colleges for every student, and I’m passionate about helping students discover their best-fit schools. I work one-on-one with students to create a deep understanding of their goals, skills, and passions. Identifying a student’s optimal learning style, academic fit, and social environment are crucial elements in college list creation. One of my greatest thrills as an advisor is when a student accepts admission to a school they’d never considered before our work together.
Editorial Expertise from Brainstorming to the Final Draft
Writing about yourself isn’t easy. In fact, it’s an overwhelming task for most teenagers. I’m passionate about helping students find their voice. My mission is to use my skills as a writer and editor to aid college-bound students in crafting memorable college essays.
Working together, we will break down the essay process into small assignments. Idea generation, free-form writing, and multiple drafts are all elements we work through as a team. We also build a timeline, setting deadlines for each assignment, taking into account students' academic, athletic, and work lives.
